My Alter Ego: The Writer/Artist

Believe it or not, I knew I wanted to be a psychologist when I was just fourteen years old. And so, right after high school, I attended Acadia University and obtained my Bachelor of Science with Honors in Psychology, and then went out west to the University of Calgary to complete my Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology, graduating in 2001. In 2009, I completed level three of the Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy training. In 2013, I completed 286 hr Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training with Hart Lazer and most recently, I completed a teaching training in Goddess Yoga, a unique fusion of vinyasa yoga and bellydance. I'm enthusiastic about my work, creatively drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions. As well as being trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I am a certified Logosynthesis Practitioner. I also practice and study Ashtanga yoga and Tibetan Buddhism and so can bring a mindfulness component to my work. I am a member of the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia, a Registered Psychologist with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology and have been offering psychological services in Halifax since 2005. I offer counseling to adolescents and adults. I have training and clinical experience in the following areas of concern: Depression, Anxiety, Anger Management, Eating Disorders/Body image, Trauma, PTSD, Sexual Abuse, Self-esteem, Addictions, Parenting, LGBTQ Concerns, Stress Management, Communication Skills, Work/Life Balance, Sexuality, Health and Wellness.
